Glenhyrst Art Gallery’s Annual Family Arts Day was a tremendous day for SKIP and many other community organizations that came together to celebrate families through the exploration of art and activities.
SKIP Director Liz Martorano and SKIP District Rep Colleen Goupil shared opportunities with participants on how they can get involved with SKIP. The busy Brantford based organization has an ongoing need for motivated volunteers to help fulfill it’s mandate. The SKIP team is building an age-friendly community through the intergenerational programs offered to partner schools and neighbourhood community centres.
The Annual Family Arts Day was held in May at beautiful Glenhyrst Gardens at 20 Ava Road in Brantford. The event was filled with 35+ booths from community businesses and local non-profit organizations, each bringing their own personalized activity to the event.
The day featured art activities for children and performers on stage throughout the day like the Guitar Society of Brantford members and Avalon Music Academy Students. Children’s activities included canvas painting, clay, looming, duct tape creations, flower planting, oil pastels, chess and more.
